Warrington, United Kingdom, 2nd September 2020: MDS Global Ltd, a leading BSS-as-a-Service provider, today announces that it has signed TM Forum’s Open API & Open Digital Architecture Manifesto, formalising its commitment to delivering cloud-native, re-usable software components.

The Open Digital Architecture (ODA) replaces traditional operational and business support systems (OSS/BSS) with a new approach to building software for the telecoms industry, opening a market for standardized, cloud-native software components, and enabling communication service providers and suppliers to invest in IT for new and differentiated services instead of maintenance and integration.

The ODA will enable service providers to cut costs and reduce time-to-market for new services, which is crucial if they are to remain competitive in the 5G era.

Stephen Randall, CTO at MDS Global, said “We are entering an era of co-creation between service providers and enterprises in which they will work together to curate dedicated and personalised services and use cases. Co-creation will drive major cultural, technical and commercial change within their businesses.”

He continued, “As a leader in enterprise monetisation solutions, we believe our collaboration with the TM Forum will deliver new value not just to our customers, but to the community as a whole, as we enter this exciting and challenging period of new growth.”

MDS Global’s sister company, Incognito Software Systems Inc., a leading global provider of broadband service orchestration software solutions, has also signed the Open API & Open Digital Architecture Manifesto. “Incognito is pleased to give its added support to TM Forum partners,” David Sharpley, CEO at Incognito, commented. “This reinforces our commitment to being a leading voice in the industry standards domain and addressing the growing needs of customers to accelerate the creation and introduction of new innovative services. Incognito is able to further our work on building standards-based integrated B/OSS solutions demonstrated in TM Forum’s 5G Riders on the Storm Catalyst project with TMF641 API,” added Sharpley.

“In signing the manifesto, TM Forum members such as MDS Global and Incognito are transforming IT and operations to be fit for the 2020s,” said George Glass, CTO, TM Forum. “The momentum building to collaboratively deliver the Open Digital Architecture is the software market foundation our industry deserves, instead of sinking resources into maintenance and integration of customized legacy solutions that are blocking agility and innovation.”
